Where do you start with a system? Just a single "streaming audio player" connected to your hi-fi system, do you go for a couple of "streaming audio players" say one in the living room, one in the kitchen and one in the bed room or do you do the whole house?
It is a tough question as it really depends on your budget. The great news is though that you can expand your system when you are ready to.
Connected Acoustic products are based around the award winning Logitech SqueezeCenter software and are fully compatible with all of the Logitech Squeezebox products and high end audiophile "streaming audio player", the Transporter.
This flexibility and compatibility allows you to mix and match players around your home. Plus a Connected Acoustic system in your living room, a Squeezebox Boom in the kitchen, a Squeezebox Classic with Connected Acoustic P1 Active speakers in the conservatory, Squeezebox Receivers and Connected Acoustic P1 Active speakers in the kids rooms and maybe another Squeezebox Boom in your bedroom to wake you up in the morning to your favourite music. The configurations and possibilities are endless and can be suited to your exact needs.
You also have full peace of mind in the fact that because Connected Acoustic products are based around the Logitech SqueezeCenter software your products will always be up to date.
Music storage
We often get asked what is the best solution for storing music on. Of course a lot of customers just keep all of their music on their computers, which is fine, but it means that the computer needs to be switched on to so the "streaming audio players" can play your music collection. Internet radio just needs an active broadband Internet connection.
So your "streaming audio players" around your home can access your music collection all the time without the need for your computer to switched on, we suggest a Windows home server. A Windows home server is basically a storage box that you can put all your music on. In fact you can put anything you like on it from video files to Word and Excel files. Any computer on the network can read and write files to the Windows home server – it is your central storage device.
A Windows home server is designed to be on all the time, sat quietly in the corner connected to your network without being noticed. A Windows home server can also run the SqueezeCenter software that powers your "streaming audio players" so you never have to turn your computer on to play your music collection.
Of course you don’t have to have to have a Windows home server on your home network to run our "streaming audio players", the SqueezeCenter software runs on Windows PC’s, Apple Macintosh and Linux PC’s.
You can start by using your own computer and then progress up to a Windows home server once your budget allows or you when you better understand the benefits.
